Barbecue fire damages house

CHINO HILLS - "A home was damaged after a fire erupted in a barbecue pit early Sunday morning.
Personnel from the Chino Valley Fire District responded to a structure fire call in the 5800 block of Ridge Gate Drive at 1:16 a.m., said Capt. Rich Higgins.
By the time firefighters arrived, the homeowner had extinguished the fire. Firefighters, however, stayed to make sure all the embers were out, Higgins said.
The fire began from grease buildup in a built-in barbecue unit, he said. The fire eventually ate through a hose that leads to the barbecue's propane tank, which caused the fire to spread rapidly....."

1) I always thought a built-in would be a great place for a wood fire. At any rate, you can see how dangerous propane is. Dude, heat the inside of your house with it, not the outside, or your barbecue pit.
2) From the "It's a little late for that." department: CLEAN YOUR BARBECUE!
3) While I'm glad no one was hurt, the most important fact was omitted: Did you save the meat?
